1991, Color, 90 mins / in Mandarin with English subtitles

A rich official forces a young woman to be his thirteenth wife. The woman escapes just before entering the wedding chamber and is rescued by a raftsman, Black Bull. The official searches for her and soon knows of Black Bull. As Black Bull unites the raftsmen to protect the woman, he gradually falls in love with her. This is yet another example of a magnificently photographed film that helps to create a deeper understanding of traditional Chinese values.
