 Life Along Misty River

Magnificent drama depicting life along the Misty River in the early 20th century. Sensitive performances, beautifully shot, well developed plotlines. The movie is adapted from Shen Congwen's novel. It narrates the fates of a group of prostitutes who lived on the river in the west of Hunan province. It also gives us a peek of the folk customs of the society along the river during that period.

A Kung Fu action film with intense villains and magic. In the Ming Dynasty, during Wanli period, the emperor devised a method for ruling his territories beyong the Great Wall. He sent letters with his seal declaring that anyone possessing one of the letters would be lord of that area. Naturally there was a vicious struggle for possession of these valuable edicts.

Just another great classic Chinese film focusing on village life. In this case a village specializing in growing tea. Beautiful cinematography and uplifting performances. The story focuses on the merging between the old ways and the new helping us understand the subtleties of the changes taking place in China. We even get to understand a little about the importance of tea. A well written, well directed love story about relationships within relationships.

Great Kung Fu action drama. Twins tragically separated at birth find themselves facing each other on opposite sides. One raised by his mother is a revolutionary hero fighting for China's freedom. The other is a singer raised by an opera troupe who find himself working for his father's killer and his brother's enemy, forcing them to face off against each other.
